04.01.01 :: Downtempo / R&B
The very first online rebroadcast of The Bruce Wang Radio Show... And what a way to introduce Bruce Wang to audiences outside of Japan. Great global cuts on this one featuring tunes from Silicone Soul, Krust, Nautilis, and ending with some sexy American R&B.

1 :: Silicone Soul - 'Mong the Merciless' from 'A Soul Thing'
Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie are typically known for their 4 to the floor house/techno tunes. This is an interesting sidestep on their solid full length.

2 :: Fink feat. Frank Chickens - 'Ninjah (We Are Ninja)' from 'Fresh Produce' (Ninja Tune / N-Tone)
Finian Greenhall aka Fink is a former Jazz Guitarist, with several great N-Tone releases under his belt. 'Ninjah' is a highlight. Unfortunately he doesn't bring anything new to the Timbaland inspired beats. Great chop socky movie samples. Fink describes the album as instrumental R&B. It great stuff.

3 :: Lobe - 'Nude' from 'Hibernation'
I know nothing of this artist. Promo arrived in mailbox. I liked it. I played it. I would like to hear more by them.

4 :: Krust - 'Overture' from 'Coded Language' 2000
One of my favorite tunes from the first full length by DJ Krust of the Reprazent family. Excellent non dnb shit. Its great to see big artists not limit themselves to one genre. Photek might be the exception.

5 :: Coldcut - 'Space Journey (Nautilis Remix)' from 'Revolution' (Ninja Tune) 2001
Excellent remix from unsigned artist Nautilis. This remix (sounding nothing like the original) demonstrates the incredible diversity of production Nautilis brings to the studio. Big things to come. Its only a matter of time. http://n.autilis.com/

6 :: Mandalay - 'This Life (Demo)' from 'Triphopcrisy 2'
Intriguing tune and certainly one of the highlights on this older compilation. This duo is comprised of Saul Freeman and Nicola Hitchcock who arrived on the scene in '98 and where immediately lumped into the 'trip hop' genre alongside Portishead. There not Portishead and they definately have their own style. They are more ambient AND more electronic than Portishead or Morecheeba.

7 :: Lisa Gerrard & Pieter Bourke - 'Meltdown' from 'The Insider Soundtrack' 2000
Ex-Dead Can Dance singer Lisa Gerrard contributes to 10 songs from this soundtrack to the film "The Insider."

8 :: Koffee Brown - 'After Party' from 'Mars/Venus'
Something you don't see very often is a mixed sex R&B group. Well Guy/Girl R&B group Koffee Brown is such a group. Fonz and Vee with production by Kay-Gee keep up a quality party and flossy vibe.
