| 1 :: Seba
- 'Camouflage'
(Good Looking (LGR016))
1998 |
|
 |
| I consider 12' a MUST HAVE for every Drum and Bass fan. ‘Camouflage’ is actually the B side of this Looking Good release, ‘Planetary Funk Alert’ being side A. Both side are superb and my favorite release from Seba… though some of his latest downtempo work is getting close. Very tight beat on this track one of my favorite beat work for drum and bass tune. Filtered down and brought back up when the atmospherics and bass drop. And the background don't over doing it in this tune. which is problem for lot of atmospheric drum and bass. |

| 2 :: Jonny L
- 'I Let U'
from 'Sawtooth'
(XL-Recordings)
1997 |
|
 |
| My favorite Jonny L tune. Jonny has a way with the beats and hats. He maintains a cold hard techno sound in all of tunes while they are very much drum and bass. Its in his hard hats and the tough kicks he uses. Gorgues tune. The stereo beeps that cut the sound left and right are one of the highlights. Great detail. Filtered subtle vocal sample. Very sweet. |

| 3 :: Zed
- 'Pulse (Vip Mix)'
from 'Artcore 3'
(React (REACTLP99))
1997 |
|
 |
| More tough beats. Winding subbaseline, chopped in break make this hard edged. Subtle chords and repeating keys keep it chill. Nice smooth break down in the middle to pads, synth keys and quiet clangy hats. I really like beat programming in this one, not typical drum and bass two step pattern. |

| 4 :: Skanna
- 'Find Me'
from 'Artcore 2'
(React (REACTLP75))
1996 |
|
 |
| This is what I like, artists that don't hide themselves to one particular style of music. John Graham also records under the Quiver and Soundproof alias and has released house, trance, and drum and bass. Whatever he is feeling at that moment. I respect that. The element I like most in this track is the great conga like beats that float behind the main kick snare pattern. Beautiful strings, vocal elements, and chiming keys take it to next level. |

| 5 :: Omni Trio
- 'Beyond the Fundamental'
from 'Byte Size Life'
(Moving Shadow)
1999 |
|
 |
| Omni Trio, Rob Haigh I must say you are one of my favorite producer. Every track is exceptional and the new album is stunning. Stunning. I think few producers can achieve the difficult balance of a simple structure and the right amount of atmosphere, texture and emotion. Synthetic horns flow in a out, booming bass line, angelic vocals, signature piano, sharp beats... Rob is one of the producers that succeeds. |

| 6 :: Underwolves
- 'Shaken'
from 'Under Your Sky'
(Jazzanova / Compost)
2001 |
|
 |
| Nice new vocal tune from cats that brought you 'So Blue its Black'. Off their first full length album they focus on the jazz and rnb sides of drum and bass. Madeline Edgehill provides vocals one several of the songs. 'Shaken' is my favorite. Love the symphonic stabs behind the songs hook, and every time Madeline says "shaken". A the pieces fit together on this one. Smooth. Emotional.
